A key part of the WorkHistory vision

Never lose track of a pension from an old job.

Every time you change jobs, you may leave behind another workplace pension. WorkHistory is designed to help you record the pension provider or scheme associated with each employment, so your career history can become a useful starting point for understanding where your pension savings may be held.

01

Record the pension provider

When you add a job, record the pension provider or scheme name alongside the employer.

02

Build your pension trail

Over time, create a single record linking your employment history to the pensions you may have contributed to.

03

Find forgotten pots

Use your employment and provider information as a starting point when tracing pensions from previous jobs.

Why this matters

The current GOV.UK Pension Tracing Service can provide contact details for a pension scheme or provider, but it requires you to know the name of an employer or provider and does not tell you whether you have a pension or what it is worth. WorkHistory's longer-term aim is to make the employment history itself part of that trail — helping people remember where they worked, which pension provider was associated with each job, and where to start looking.

WorkHistory does not currently trace or access pension pots. This is a future product direction and would require appropriate regulatory, security and data-protection work.
